Founded in 1925 in Granada, Alhambra Beers evolved with chemist D. Thompson's help, notably creating Alhambra Reserva 1925. Despite setbacks during the Spanish Civil War, it grew steadily. In 1954, Damm joined, followed by Cruzcampo in 1979, leading to modernization. Debt issues in 1995 led to a major share sale. By 1998, it turned profitable and acquired the Andalusian Beer Company in 1999. In 2001, Heineken sued Alhambra over Águila Negra, but Alhambra won the right to brew it in 2002
